Dr. Maxwell A. Abraham was born and raised in Leamington, ON. He attended Queen of Peace & St. Louis Elementary Schools and later Cardinal Carter Secondary School. He has fond memories of his youth in Leamington and Kingsville playing volleyball, football, and track-and-field with school teams, Kinsmen baseball, Thursday-night Leamington Flyers games, and school parliament. He enjoyed all aspects of school, being awarded the Governor General Award. Many future patients may recognize Dr. Abraham as he worked as a lifeguard and water instructor at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreational Complex Pool (our neighbor!) for many years!
Dr. Abraham later studied at the University of Western Ontario in London, ON for Biological Sciences and then Dentistry at the Schulich School of Dentistry, obtaining his Degree of Dental Surgery and General Dentistry License. During this time, Dr. Abraham remained well-ingrained in Leamington and Kingsville, giving back to many organizations including the Lifesaving Society and their many community programs & working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit to provide dental education to various day camps and employers.
Dr. Abraham then attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI for his specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He is trained and certified in all aspects of orthodontics, including clear braces, metal braces, Invisalign, functional appliances, temporary anchorage devices, combined orthognathic surgical treatment, and many more, utilizing the most current treatments supported by the highest levels of evidence. He earned his Masters of Science with his research on the Effect of mechanical vibration on bone cells, in addition to his specialty licences in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as well as becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Orthodontics.
Since opening Abraham Orthodontics, Dr. Abraham quickly established a foundation rooted in exceptional orthodontic care (#AOmazing smiles!) with incredible community service, in a state-of-the-art facility with the newest technology–including being an emerging local leader in Invisalign treatment.
Dr. Abraham has been recognized for his work at Abraham Orthodontics and throughout the community, including a finalist for the Windsor-Essex Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards in 2017 for New Business and 2018, 2019 & Winner in 2020 for Young Professional of the Year. Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce recognized him as Young Professional and Young Entrepreneurin 2024. Also, BizX Magazine has recognized him as a finalist for Powerhouse Professional of the Year (2017, 2018), Top Dentist (2017), and Best New Business (2016). The Leamington Chamber of Commerce has also recognized Dr. Abraham as the Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018 and a Positive Professional Finalist in 2017. His community work was recently recognized as Dr. Abraham was named one of the 40 Leaders Under 40 in Windsor-Essex by the United Way.This recognized the numerous initiatives and programs supported in local schools to promote health, confidence, and knowledge to develop tomorrow’s leaders.
Recently, the Abraham Orthodontics Community Youth Room was established to support local organizations’ efforts in developing newcomer and at-risk youth in the Leamington and Kingsville area. Dr. Abraham continues to volunteer with Junior Achievement Canada as a teacher to local school to enhance adolescents’ fiscal literacy. Starting in 2020, Dr. Abraham was elected to the Board of Directors for our regional hospital, Erie Shores HealthCare providing leadership and guidance to ensure the care of our community is sustained while exceeding the communities’ expectations. Also, Dr. Abraham is a Board member of the Ontario Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Abraham likes to stay active, runs, swims, weight trains, enjoys hockey (Go Bruins!), reads, and spend time with family and friends, especially his wife Christen and children! Dr. Abraham is excited that things have come full circle as he has returned home to open Abraham Orthodontics to provide progressive, exceptional, affordable and individualized orthodontic care to children and adults in his hometown of Leamington and Kingsville ON for many generations to come!
