New Clinic a Homecoming! – Abraham Orthodontics featured in Windsor-Essex Small Business

A new doctor is bringing specialized treatment to a modern clinic in his hometown of Leamington.

Abraham Orthodontics, which opened March 15, offers the latest in orthodontics, including clear and metal braces, Invisalign, functional appliances and advanced surgical treatments.
“Our practice philosophy is having progressive, exceptional, affordable orthodontics,” said Dr. Maxwell Abraham, owner of Abraham Orthodontics. “We want to eliminate or reduce any barriers that may be there for care, especially when it comes with working with younger patients.”

For Abraham, orthodontics is about creating a difference in a patient’s life from childhood through adulthood, and making a big impact in a short amount of time. “It’s rewarding for them and for us to see those changes.”

Abraham Orthodontics not only brings specialized treatment to the municipality, but delivers it in a modern, industrial-designed facility built from the ground up.

“We really worked on having an open concept, from inside and out. You can tell there’s a lot of windows. We wanted a lot of connectedness in and outside the building,” explained Abraham. “We have a spacious family area … and from there we have private, semi-private and open areas for treatment.”

“I think where we are geographically in Leamington, being next door to Highbury Canco … between the newer parts of Leamington and the downtown and the industrial roots,[the clinic] is a really nice blend of all three architecturally.”

Abraham said it’s rewarding to practice his passion for orthodontics in his hometown. Born and raised in Leamington, Abraham left for Western University in London, Ont. to study biological sciences and dentistry at the Schulich School of Dentistry. He went on to complete specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.

“Throughout the whole time in school, I still tried to stay ingrained in the (Leamington) community [through volunteerism],” said Abraham. For many years, Abraham also worked as a lifeguard and water instructor at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreational Complex Pool.

“Some of the kids I taught swimming lessons to are patients. It’s quite nice to see things come full circle.”

“For me the big thing was just to be home … it’s very rewarding and it makes for a different experience having the kind of innate connection with patients, and with staff and the community when there is already that common ground that’s strictly based on geography,” he added.

As well as being personally connected to the region, Abraham felt it was important to establish his practice in Leamington because the region was underserved.

“We’ve got a lot of really good feedback from the different communities. We don’t only serve Leamington, but also Kingsville, Essex, Amherstburg, LaSalle, Harrow, Tilbury. We have a really good county reach being one the few orthodontists outside of Windsor.”

“There’s a lot of really exciting things happening in the surrounding communities … It makes for a very nice region to live and work.”

Abraham Orthodontics will host a public open house on June 9, with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. The clinic is located at 185 Erie St. South, Unit 1 in Leamington.
